Acid Neutralising System

The system is designed to automatically reduce acid levels in a flow line, following a well stimulation operation. The Instrumentation System monitors acid levels in a flow line and automatically controls neutralising dose through a proportional control valve.

Feedback from a pH sensor provides automatic control of the output of the dosing pump speed via a proportional control valve. This process uses a loop controller to get pH level of the returns acceptably close to 5.5.

Data is displayed. Manual override of dosing is available.

The pH sensor is suitable for operation in a Zone 1 hazardous area; the Pump Unit, Data Processing and Display Unit are safe area equipment, with hazardous area options available.

Typical System Hardware

Sensors

  • Flow sensor. In-line flow sensor for up to 25 litres per minute on the 1″ line pump dosage line.
  • Pressure sensor, 0 – 1,000 psi
  • pH sensor for range from HC acid to 5.5. This is configured in a sub-frame for connection to the process line via ½” NB fittings.
  • Low level tank float switch
  • High level tank float switch

Data Processing, Displays and Alarms

Data processing takes place in a stainless steel enclosure, which accommodates the system’s power supply unit, pH loop controller and safety barriers. This enclosure can be located at any convenient location, preferably in a sheltered location, out of direct sunshine, where it can be readily accessed, if necessary.

Fittings, Hoses

Lengths of flexible return hose is supplied, with fittings, to transport the neutralized, sampled fluid to temporary storage, prior to re-injection or disposal.
