INTEGRATED ACOUSTIC TOP CONTROL PACKAGE
The Acoustic Backup system consists of a Fixed Control unit & Surface Transponder permanently installed on the vessel structure. This allows the operator to monitor subsea status, initiate commands & get vital feedback of these commands.
The surface equipment directly communicates to a matched pair of subsea transponders & associated Electronics modules.
The Subsea Transponders can be 3000-4000m below the surface. The use of Dual subsea transponders & electronics offers redundancy to all commands & Automatic operations. The dual subsea electronics are designed to operate on battery for a minimum of 180 days
The Dual subsea electronics interfaces to an Electro-Hydraulic Module (EHM) that provides the Hydraulic fluid to operate the subsea functions. The EHM interfaces to the existing BOP controls via a supplied Shuttle arrangement, providing a solution that can operate independent of the BOP controls.
In the event of the Rig being abandoned, an Optional portable unit is available to enable the Subsea Status to be confirmed & Commands initiated from a boat located above the subsea stack.
